Critical success factor

A critical success factor ( KEF) is a property of an organization that allows for sufficiently good values to achieve the objectives of the organization, such as profit maximization, communication, quality, cost leadership, etc.

The method of critical success factors (CSFs ) is based on an investigation of information needs skirt.

This gives the critical success factors by determining with the top management of a company, which is crucial for the success of the enterprise. Based on the KEF can then, for example, projects are placed or prioritize which are the company's objectives conducive.

Critical success factors are related to a limited number of workspaces. Good results in these areas are crucial for an individual, a department or an organization in order to successfully compete.

The KEF are traditionally collected from the four areas of service, communication, human resources and positioning. Exemplary KEF in communications could be Internal Communication, Inter-organizational communication and user training.

The evaluation of each KEF takes place by means of questionnaires of experts and / or employees. It must be valued Priority P ( K), power L (K ) and total success E ( K). The scale goes from P ( K) = 1 irrelevant to P ( K) = 7 very crucial and L ( K) = 1 very poor to L (K ) = 7 excellent. The cumulative values express whether the CSFs are adequately supported.

The success of E ( K ) of a KEF is calculated with the formula, whereby it is shown that E ( K) is the greater, the higher priority and performance were evaluated.

The formula shows the success of participants t guarantee success.

Yields the power difference between priority and performance. Thus, showing the order of about improving KEF. D (K ) is calculated between -6 and 6. For negative values, a decrease in the use of resources is recommended, in case of positive vice versa.

The procedure for KEF analysis consists of seven typical points:

Second definition of the survey participants

The participants should, if possible, all users, or be a representative sample, which come into contact with the KEF. Participants can also be grouped by discipline yet.
