Crittenden County (Arkansas)

The Crittenden County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. In 2010, the County had 50 902 inhabitants and a population density of 32.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Marion.

The Crittenden County is part of the Memphis metropolitan area.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme east of Arkansas and is bordered by the Mississippi River, which forms the border with the states of Tennessee and Mississippi. It has an area of 1649 square kilometers, of which 69 square kilometers are water surface. At the Crittenden County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Crittenden County was formed on October 22, 1825 12 County of Arkansas from parts of Phillips County. It was named after Robert Crittenden (1797-1834), an acting Governor of the Arkansas Territory ( 1828-1829 ).
