Croatia men's national basketball team

The Croatian national basketball team was founded in 1992. Her biggest success came the Croatian team in the same year at the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona. The players won the silver medal of the tournament and had at that time only the professionals of the U.S. Dream Team defeated. Other achievements include two third places at the European Basketball Championship in 1993 and the European Basketball Championship in 1995. Also in the Basketball World Championship 1994 won the Croatian basketball team the bronze medal.

History

The beginnings of basketball on the territory of today's Croatia is connected with the stay of the U.S. American William Weil country. As a representative of the American Christian Youth Association he held in 1924 in Zagreb and established the at that time new sport before. After the Croatian Basketball Federation was formed on 19 December 1948. Before the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia, the Croatian Basketball Federation was, until November 17, 1991 Part of gesamtjugoslawischen Basketball Federation.
