Cross and Crown

The traditional Christian symbol of the cross and crown (cross surrounded by a crown) found in many churches and in heraldry use. Symbolically it represents the reward in heaven (the crown ) after the temptations in this life (the cross) were overcome.

In the banner of the Bible Student movement, this symbol is included. The cross and the crown are thereby framed by a wreath of laurel, which also appeared in the editions of The Watchtower from 1891 to 1931. The Watchtower society whose members accepted later the name Jehovah's Witnesses away this icon to view it as a " pagan symbol " view. Your present current teaching is that Jesus was not crucified, but attached to a tree trunk. The Free Bible Students use this symbol to this day on the front page of their magazine " The New Creation ".

The symbol is also used in the seal of the Church of Christian Science where it is surrounded by the words " Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons ", in reference to the Bible text from the Gospel of Matthew 10.8 In this symbol represents the crown of victory over death.
