Cross of Recognition

The Latvian Order of Merit is a civil order of merit that can be awarded to all citizens and foreigners, who have distinguished themselves for special patriotism and for special services at the state level, in the social, cultural, scientific work as well as in the fields of sport and education.

The order consists of five class and two special decorations ( this in three grades - Gold, Silver or Bronze)

• Grand Cross
• Grand Officer
• Commander
• Officer
• Knight
• Large special decorations
• Small special decorations

The religious character has the shape of a Maltese cross and is enamelled white. The cross- peaks are each decorated with small beads. In the middle of a cross goldgerändertes medallion.

The ribbon is red with silver trim strip.

The religious motto Godaprāta ļaudīm ( men of honor ).
