In a Usenet cross-posting is created by newsgroup: header not just one, but a list is entered from newsgroups.

In order to prevent a subsequent discussion of the contribution shatter, it is useful to continue them only in one of the forums. On Usenet, this is by setting a so-called Followup-To: header possible. In this, the author proposes a suitable for this newsgroup. Alternatively, by the value of "posters" are asked to send the replies to the original author directly by e -mail.

In addition, it comes, depending on the number of newsgroups to a significantly higher memory consumption.

Cross Posting in Forums

Crosspostings as in Usenet are not possible in web forums in general, so that the term is used here interchangeably to Multiposting and refers to the setting of an identical contribution in various forums or sub-forums.

Similar to the multi Usenet postings are often rejected in the Forums, as thus created threads have no connection to each other and the discussion is thus performed redundantly in different places. In forums where multi- posting is allowed, a link to the thread with one another is required in most cases.

Deviating from this is called cross-posting in forums with even the almost simultaneous sending of various contributions of different users in one thread. Thus, the content traceability is at the usual chronological presentation of the postings difficult or it can slip covers occur.
