Crowley is a city in Tarrant County and Johnson County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The town is located 3 km west of Interstate 35 in southern Tarrant County and northern Johnson County in northeastern Texas, is located in the north about 100 miles from Oklahoma and has a total area of 17.2 km ² without significant water surface.

History

The first settlers settled in 1848 along the Deer Creek down here. When in 1885 the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway laid its tracks, they moved towards the replenishment station, which functioned as a railway station. Was named the new settlement after SH Crowley, an employee of the railroad.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 7,467 people in 2,650 households and 2,098 families. The population density was 433.5 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 93.08 % White, 1.39 % African American, 0.76 % Native American, 0.48 % Asian, 0.01 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 2.29 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 1.98% were of mixed descent, and 7.81 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 2,650 households, 43.8 % had children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.7 % were married couples living together. 15.1% were single mothers and 20.8 % were non-families. 17.5 % of all households were single-person households and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size to 3.16 persons.

30.9% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.5 % from 18 to 24, 30.5% 25-44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.5 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 90.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 84.8 males.

The median income for a household was $ 46,765, and the median income for a family $ 47,642. Males had a median income of $ 36,029 versus $ 26,035 for females. The per capita income was $ 18,282. 6.5 % of the population and 5.5 % of families are below the poverty line. Of which 7.7 % have children under the age of 18 and 4.3% of those 65 or older.
