Crown Heights Affair

Crown Heights Affair was an American disco and funk band that was founded in the 1970s in Bedford -Stuyvesant, New York originally called the New Day Express. The band consisted of Phillip Thomas ( lead singer ), Bert Reid ( saxophone), Raymond Reid ( trombone), William Anderson ( guitar), James "Ajax" Baynard (trumpet ), Raymond Skirt ( drums), Howard " Howard " Young ( Keyboard ) and Muki Wilson ( bassist ).

Although many of her recordings include significant radio - elements, the bulk of their plates is attributed to the disco genre. Their hit successes launched Crown Heights Affair in 1974 with the single Leave The Kids Alone on the RCA label. As early as next year, the band signed a contract with De -Lite on which they should have their greatest hits. The largest, Dreaming A Dream, climbed in 1975 to # 5 of the American R & B and number 43 on the pop charts. By 1982, she was able to place a total of eleven titles in the R & B charts. In the United Kingdom Crown Heights Affair reached between 1978 and 1980 a total of five times the charts, the excellent You Gave Me Love sold it best (ranked 10). The band continued through the 1980s and released singles, but the success was dramatically after. The brothers Reid and William Anderson left the group in 1986 to pursue other interests.
