Croxley tube station

Croxley is an aboveground station London Underground. It is operated by the Metropolitan Line, located in the Travelcard Zone 7, and is one of 14 stations outside of Greater London. It is located at the junction of Watford Road and Winston Drive in the village of Croxley, in the district of Three Rivers the county of Hertfordshire. In 2010, 0.82 million passengers used the station.

The opening of the station took place on November 2, 1925 under the name Croxley Green by the Metropolitan Railway (MR; predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line). The distance between Moor Park and Watford was the first of the MR, which was electrified from the start. On the same day a short link was opened towards Rickmansworth. On March 23, 1949, the station was given its present name, and on January 3, 1960, the scheduled time of operation ended on the link Rickmansworth. This, however, been used since the May 11, 1987, respectively in the early morning again some trains.

There are plans to close the section of line between Croxley and Watford the terminus. Instead, to be built over a newly constructed viaduct, a connection to a disused railway line since 1996. This leads to Watford Junction, the most important railway station in the neighboring town of Watford. The start of the Croxley Rail Link is planned for the year 2015 or 2016.
