Crump's mouse

The Crump mouse ( Diomys crumpi ) is a rodent species from the group of Altweltmäuse ( Murinae ).

The body length of Crump mice is 10 to 15 cm, tail length 11 to 14 cm and its weight is around 50 to 80 grams. They are colored black on the back, the abdomen, and the feet are white, the tail is black on top and white on the underside.

These rodents are known from a few locations in the eastern India ( Bihar and Manipur ), in eastern Nepal and northern Myanmar - the exact dimensions of their range are unclear. All findings are from evergreen forests from an altitude of 1000-2000 meters. The animals live partially below ground digging, otherwise nothing is known about their way of life.

There are only isolated finds of Crump mouse, the prevalence and incidence of type remain questionable. The IUCN lists the species under "too little data available " ( data deficient ).

Systematically, it is classified as part of the Millardia group within the Altweltmnäuse.
