Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll is an American online community and streaming site to East Asian media, including, Music Anime Manga, Japanese ( drama ), Korean and Chinese TV shows and computer games. The website was founded in 2006 now offers legal streaming of over 200 anime series on, some series even without regional limitation to North America. It is available in English, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese. The operator sits in San Francisco and has an office in Tokyo.

History

The site was founded in June 2006 by a group of students from the University of California, Berkeley as a community of anime fans and page for sharing videos. After a strong growth of the side until summer 2007, she was financially supported by Venrock and was able to acquire licenses for content. In addition, illegally uploaded content has been removed, and only the corresponding owners can upload series.

Since early 2009, the site in collaboration with Japanese studios streaming current Japanese series including first Naruto Shippuden, Gin Tama and Skip Beat. In August 2010, the Company acquired the DVD distribution rights to 5 Centimeters Per Second using the distribution of Bandai Entertainment. This DVD then appeared on February 22, 2011.

On October 27, 2013 reported the Japanese business newspaper Nikkei that the publisher Kodansha from October 30 will offer for selected manga simultaneously with their first release in Japan English translations on Crunchyroll. The offer launched with 12 titles - Apocalypse no Toride, Coppelion, Fairy Tail, Kami- sama no Iu Tori ni Kimi no Iru Machi, Nanatsu no Taizai, Nazo no Kanojo X, Shingeki no Kyojin, Uchū Kyodai, UQ Holder, Wagatsuma! -san wa Ore no Yome and Yamada -kun to Nananin no Majo - and is to be extended until the summer of 2014 to more than 50. The publication area amounts to 170 countries, excluding Japan, for example, China, France, Italy and Germany.

Starting with the titles Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio - Ars Nova, Gingitsune, Little Busters, Miss Monochrome and Nagi no Asukara offers Crunchyroll, since December 2013, first German subtitles.
