Crushed stone

Rubble describe stones that are caused by demolition or larger rocks in a quarry primary. When one speaks of finer grain sand fraction (0-5 mm), gravel ( 2-32 mm) and gravel ( 32-63 mm).

They arise naturally as debris by weathering of rocks, for example by ice expansion rupture or be degraded in quarries. They are characterized by their irregular shape, unprocessed surfaces and sharp edges which makes it different from field stones, boulders, gravel and sand round. They fall under the heading of natural stone.

Rubble either be used directly as a building material, adjusted to a suitable particle size distribution or first processed: The stones are to desired sizes broken ( fractured minerals) or mechanically processed, for example, roughly trimmed to obtain a desired shape ( building stone ). The stones keep this in general their typical structure of the fracture surfaces and edges.

In today's construction industry, they are primarily as aggregates - where they are more common than river sand or pit sand, such as in mountainous areas - and as cover material or for foundations - because they solidify better than round material - used. You will find as an aggregate for concrete and mortar, road or railway ballast after they have been set to the correct size, use. In addition, we built rubble stone and natural stone masonry, and also as Schroppen also for flood protection in the dam and the torrents as well as gardening and landscaping or offset them as pavement, as pavement slabs and the like.
