Cruz Bustamante

Cruz Miguel Bustamante ( born January 4, 1953 in Dinuba, California) is an American politician. Between 1999 and 2007 he was Deputy Governor of the State of California.

Career

Cruz Bustamante attended the Tranquility High School. In the meantime, he worked in the fields in San Joaquin. After he graduated from the Fresno City College and California State University at Fresno. Later he hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1993 and 1998 he sat in the California State Assembly, which he chaired in 1997 and 1998. In the years 1996 and 2000, he participated as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, where President Bill Clinton and Al Gore was nominated as the presidential candidate later.

Bustamante was elected in 1998 on the side of Gray Davis for Lieutenant Governor of California. This post he held for a re choice between 1999 and 2007. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 2003, he served under the new governor Arnold Schwarzenegger; previously he was in the recall election, which led to the replacement of Gray Davis, was the Republican Schwarzenegger clearly inferior as a Democratic candidate.

In 2006, Bustamante applied unsuccessfully for the post of insurance commissioner of the California state government (California Insurance Commissioner ). 2012 was adopted, Bustamante could run for the U.S. House of Representatives. But he has finally waived this candidacy.
