Cryptodira

Thighed tortoise (Testudo graeca )

The neck Berger Turtles ( Cryptodira ) are a sub- order of turtles. Their common feature is the ability to vertically collect her head to the tank opening in an S- shaped curve.

The mandrel and side extensions on her neck vertebrae are much reduced form. Your pelvis is not adherent to the tank, but connected to the plastron only by ligaments.

The Berger- neck turtles live with the exception of Antarctica in all continents, with Australia only for the Papua soft-shelled turtle ( Carettochelys insculta ) and the sea turtles relatives ( Chelonioidea ) are described. They evolved during the Jurassic million years ago and 180 are now only represented by 13 families today.
