Cryptogramophone Records is a 1998 founded American record label for jazz and improvised music New.

Cryptogramophone Records was founded in 1998 by violinist Jeff Gauthier in Los Angeles; it is a sub-label of avant-garde labels Ninewinds. First, it was dedicated to his late friend and colleague, bassist Eric von Essen. First publications on this were the albums Wrate Jeanette / Northern Lights Ensemble: Echoes of a Northern Sky (1999 ), Alex Cline Ensemble: Sparks Fly Upward (1999) and the compilation The Music of Eric von Essen I ( 2000). Since that time, the catalog of the label includes especially the music of artists from the West Coast of the United States in the field of new music improvisation, composition and the Modern Creative Jazz.

Cryptogramophone has since released albums by musicians like Nels and Alex Cline, Myra Melford, Steuart Liebig, Bennie Maupin, GE Stinson, Alan Pasqua, Don Preston and Jeff Gauthier himself. In addition, in Cryptogramophone appeared Music New York Downtown scene as Mark Dresser and Erik Friedlander. Cryptogramophone sponsors a weekly concert series in Los Angeles called Crypto Night at Club Tropical and the website www.indiejazz.com.
