Biography

In December 2003, Ethan Kath started the music project Crystal Castles. The band's name comes from the 1980s television series She- Ra: Princess of Power, a spin-off of He- Man series. In April 2005, Alice Glass began to that produced by Ethan Kath music to sing. The first Alice Practice EP was released in June 2006. This was limited to a quantity of 500 copies and already sold out after three days. On 18 March 2008 the self-titled debut album, the band appeared in North America. On 28 April, the publication followed in the United Kingdom. 2010 it was chosen by the British music magazine NME ranked 39 of the best albums of the last decade.

On May 24, 2010, the second, also self-titled album by the band appeared. This was followed by an extended tour through Europe and North America which, inter alia, also of Germany's biggest festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park introduced.

The third album, III, was released in November 2012. The band is touring in autumn / winter also through Europe, there will be three concerts in Germany, in Cologne, Berlin and Hamburg.

In addition to its own productions, the band released frequently remixes of original tracks by other artists.

The band is known for their live performances, which are distinguished mainly by the aggressive and chaotic kind of singer Alice Glass. Ethan Kath served next to the synthesizer and the guitar here. The beats are played at the live performances of the band not from a drum machine, but by a drummer.

2008 Alice Glass was elected to head the "Cool List " by the British music magazine NME. Their songs are used in various other media use. So their song can be heard in a commercial for Toshiba Not in Love in the computer game FIFA 12, Tell Me What to Swallow in the film J'ai ma mère tué and Air War. In the British television series Skins the band in Episode 3 of the second season occurs in a club.
