The establishment of the association took place in 1906; First it was called Club Sportif Bergusien (as Bergusiens are the inhabitants of Bourgoin called ). During the interwar period, the club changed hands several times between the third and second division back and forth, in 1949 he established himself permanently in the second division. In 1956 he took on its current name.

1965 ended the CSJB the second division championship in the first place and increased time on the highest French league. The team proved in the next 15 years, however, as a veritable " lift team " ( descent in 1968, ascension in 1971, subsequent descent in 1972, immediate resurgence in 1973, third descent 1979). In the same year the CSJB also reached the Cup final, but was defeated by Stade Toulousain favorites. 1999 was followed by another finals at the European Challenge Cup ( defeat against AS Montferrandaise ).
