CS Gaz Metan MediaÈ™

Gaz Metan Medias is a Romanian sports club from Medias. His football department plays since 2008 in Liga 1, the first Romanian football league.

History

Gaz Metan Medias was founded in 1945 as Karres Medias. In the qualifying matches for the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A to Karres could not prevail against Dermagant Targu Mures and thus launched at the resumption of the game service after the war, first in Divizia B. Just one year later, however, reached the summit.

After the rise of the club changed its name to CSM Medias ( workers' sports club). After relegation in the 1947/48 season he joined in 1949, again in the Divizia B. After a change of name in Partizanul Medias (1950 ), he joined in 1951 under the name Flacara Medias ( flame). In the same year Flacara succeeded by reaching the Cup finals against CCA Bucharest the biggest success in club history. However, the final was lost after extra time 1:3.

In the 1950s, aimed Flacara ( from 1956 under the name of Energia Medias ) the re-emergence, but could not build on his earlier successes. In 1958, the club took its current name Gaz Metan Medias - named after the natural gas in the city - at. After many years in the middle of it rose in 1972 for the first time in the third-class Divizia C., but was about to return a year later. Even after relegation in 1976 succeeded the immediate resurgence.
