CS Jiul Petroșani

Jiul Petrosani is a Romanian football club from Petrosani, who since 2011 in the League III, the third Romanian football league plays. He won the Romanian Cup in 1974.

History

Jiul Petrosani was founded in 1919 by Romanian miners as Clubul atletic al Minerilor din Petrosani ( Sports Club of miners from Petrosani ). After the change of name in UCA ale Societatii Petrosani it received its present name in 1929. Before the Second World War played Jiul few times in Divizia A, but could never last long.

After the Second World War Jiul belonged at the resumption of gaming operations in Divizia A in 1946 immediately this. In the wake of the takeover by the Communists in 1947, Jiul joined the Union of Mineworkers, from which it was backed up to the year 1990. In 1949 the club name in Partizanul Petrosani, 1950 amended in Flacara Petrosani, Petrosani Minerul 1952 and 1956 in Energia Petrosani, before he returned in 1957 to its present name.

In the 1959/60 season Jiul had to descend into the Divizia B, but managed its chances of promotion. After the renewed decline in 1962, the club until 1965 was top notch again.

At the beginning of the 1970s Jiul had its most successful period. After the lost Cup final in 1972 against Rapid Bucharest Jiul escaped in the 1973/74 season, although only just the descent, but was in the final against Politehnica Timişoara Romanian Cup Winners' Cup. In Europe Cup Winners' Cup but was already in the first round against Dundee United last stop.

The Cup victory were joined by long years of struggle descent before Jiul descent back into the Divizia B in 1985. In the following years Jiul was to lift team before after relegation in 1991 did not succeed immediately to rise again. After an interlude from 1996 to 1998 in Divizia A succeeded only in 2005 the return. In the season 2006/ 07 Jiul rose again from the Liga II. In May 2008, coach Gheorghe Poenaru broke up his contract and Haralambie Antohi, the former coach of the second team, took his place. In September 2008 Antohi was II 2008 /09 dismissed after the fourth matchday of the league and replaced by Daniel Timofte. Timofte remained until November 2009 and Jiul was excluded during the winter break of the season 2009/10 from the second division championship after player salaries in the amount of 150,000 euros could not be paid.

The 2010/11 season the club played in the League IV because he had received a license for the League III. On 6 December 2010 the coach Toni Sedecaru was followed by a coaching duo that consisted of Daniel Huza, a former first division of Jiul and Farul Constanţa, and Damian Militaru. At the end of the season Jiul won, although the season of the circle Hunedoara, but lost in the relegation play-off for promotion to the Liga III against CS Flacara Făget, the representative of the circle Timiş 0:1. In order to be able to still play in the 2011/12 season in League III, presented the club officials of the Romanian Football Federation a request, which was granted after the exclusion of ACU Arad on August 15, 2011. On September 5, 2011 Marin Tudorache replaced former coach Huza, who had only taken one point from their first three league games and now took over the second team of Jiul from the League IV.
