CS Minerul Lupeni

Minerul Lupeni was a Romanian football club from Lupeni, Hunedoara county. The club played in the second- highest Romanian Football League, the League II He was for four years the top division, the League 1, on. His greatest achievement is the Romanian runner-up in 1928.

History

Minerul Lupeni was in 1920 under the name Jiul Lupeni ( named after the river Jiu, located on the Lupeni ) was founded. In 1922 the club first participated in the regional championship of Arad, but could not qualified for the national finals adorn themselves. This was the only time in the 1927/28 season. After a win against Cluj România in the quarterfinals and a noncombat advancement in the semifinals Minerul was in the final, where it lost to Coltea Braşov. This is the biggest success in club history until today.

In 1931 the club name was changed to Minerul Lupeni, meaning to German miners. When the Divizia A was founded in 1932, Minerul was no more there as in 1934, when the Divizia B was raised from baptism. The club joined only with the founding of Divizia C in 1937, again at the national games and, he managed promptly, the rise in the Divizia B.

After the Second World War Minerul took the game while operating again in Divizia B, but dismounted immediately. Since the Divizia C was carried out only sporadically during this period, the club played mostly in the regional championship before in 1951 under the new name Flacara Lupeni the return succeeded ( in 1950 he was briefly as Partizanul Lupeni started ).

In 1953 the name was changed again - this time in the name still used today Minerul Lupeni - and in 1959 succeeded to the club so far only time of promotion to the top Romanian league, which Divizia A. After four years, however, again followed the descent after Minerul had always fought for relegation.

In the following years played Minerul always in Divizia B and in Divizia C. After the last time rise under coach Adrian Matei in 2005, the Association of Liga II belongs to. The committed in July 2007 coach Marin Tudorache was released on 27 September 2008, after the home defeat against Jiul Petrosani and replaced by assistant coach Iosif Rus and the player Ion Dumitra. Since both did not have the necessary coaching licenses, the club suffered a financial penalty. Then, in early November 2008 Carol Creiniceanu was taken as the official coach who, however, had to undergo an eye operation in December 2008 and was able to look after the team in any single game. Dumitra Rus and then again took over the training. Assistant coach Iosif Rus died on 11 July 2010 while on holiday in Portugal.

After the disappointing results that had been achieved under new coach Ionel Augustin to the first six games of the second division season 2010/ 11, the local authorities decided not to support the club more financially. Minerul Lupeni retired on 13 October 2010 from all championships back and broke up then.
