Császártöltés

Császártöltés is a municipality in the small area Kiskőrös, located in Bács -Kiskun in southern Hungary.

Geographical Location

Császártöltés is located in the south of Hungary, ten kilometers to the west of the Great Hungarian Plain in the vicinity of the Danube, from Kecel, not far from Kiskőrös. The Germans call the place Tschasartet or imperial avenue, the Croats call him TETIS or Tuotiš. By Császártöltés the distance footpath Alfoldi Kéktúra or the European long-distance hiking trail leads E7.

History

After the devastation caused by the Turks Maria Theresa called on the initiative of the Archbishop Patasich Gabor German settlers into the country. So Császártöltés was founded in 1744 by settlers who arrived on the Danube with rafts of Upper Swabia. They put the swamps and built houses. After World War II, most descendants were forced to move to Germany. Few later returned again.

Population structure

80 percent of the inhabitants are of German descent. Most of the others are hungary stocky, but also some Croats and Roma settled in the place. The nationalities live together in harmony. In kindergarten and school, the German language is taught.

Climate and economy

The climate is continental, with hot summers and low rainfall. In the gardens there are therefore many fruit trees. The water table is very deep, so the water must be pumped from depth 200 m. In Tschasartet are about 950 houses and many wine cellars, which were simply dug into the dirt floor. Viticulture is an important economic mainstay of the inhabitants. The acreage for this is 950 hectares. 40 percent of the municipality is the forest, the rest is managed by an agricultural cooperative and a state Hofgut of arable land, meadows and pastures. Many residents keep cattle, pigs and poultry. Jobs exist in agriculture, in the local textile factory in the industrial cooperative in beverage bottling or in the resident service companies.
