ÄŒSD Class 387.0

As ČSD series 387.0 Express Train locomotives of the former Czechoslovak State Railways ( ČSD ) were designated. The locomotives were given by the operating service nicknamed Mikado.

History

It was designed, because at that time with the ČSD series 365.0 only 90 km / h locomotive was available for the passenger train service. After the experience with the kkStB 310 ( ČSD 375.0 ) it was decided that for the new opera express locomotive would only be a 3-cylinder engine with superheated steam and tender in question.

Škoda in Plzeň developed under the supervision of the Swiss designer Oscar dagger a locomotive in the traditional old Austrian design principles have been largely abandoned. In their design features the locomotive was similar to the same time made in Germany in service locomotives, the DR- 01 series, although they had to be performed with regard to the Czechoslovak track conditions much easier. The first six locomotives were delivered in the spring of 1926 with the numbers 386001-386006. The ČSD locomotives recorded in May 1926 in 387001-387006 around because the agreed weight and the axle load was exceeded. The top speed was initially set to 100 km / hr.

Škoda revised the draft ultimately again and made 1927 with the serial number 386, a locomotive with similar parameters that the required axle load of 16 t einhielt. She received the number 386 001 in understudy. More locomotives of this type were not made , as the locomotives of the original design proven and were therefore being bought.

In the years 1930, 1932, 1933 and 1937, a total of 37 locomotives of the series 387.0 were delivered to the ČSD in four construction lots more. There were changes in the steam engine, the control system and the speed was increased to 120 km / hr. Later, she was set uniformly for all locomotives to 110 km / h.

The ČSD series 387.0 locomotive was at the ČSD in the period between the world wars. Professionals refer to her by one of the most elegant locomotive in the world. But she could very convincing also in terms of performance. How could an express train from 18 four-axle express train passenger cars and a total mass of 642 t between Přerov and Praha of the 387 004 with the average speed of 61.7 km / h conveyed. On the route between Prague and Břeclav the operation brought with 387.0 20 % less fuel consumption and 25 % less lubricant consumption compared to operation with the ČSD series 375.0. Home they were in the depots of Praha, Přerov, Bratislava, Břeclav, Brno, Decin

After the Second World War vierfachgekuppelte locomotives were preferred for heavy express train service, which had a migration of 387.0 in under orderly services result. The application sites were then Brno, Decin and Přerov. During their long service life, the locomotives were design improvements, such as Trofimoff slider, Kylchap double blow tube being shaken or a pneumatic detox facility. The development and construction of the ČSD series 475.1, 498.0 and ČSD series ČSD series 498.1 heralded the end of the locomotive. In 1968, the first machines were retired. 1974 was retired with 387 016 in Decin the last machine.

Of the locomotives have been preserved 3; the 387 017 and 387 019 in Lokdepot Bratislava - Vychod in poor condition, but there are thought to assemble them into a workable machine. The 387.043, which is since 1969 owned by the National Technical Museum in Prague, is currently in the Railway Museum Lúžna u Rakovníka. In spring 2000, the locomotive was parked with the deadline, but received a boiler inspection, whereby the boiler at a pressure of 11 bar could be operated. In this state, degraded mode the locomotive in the railway museum Lúžna was used for the cab ride sharing and could move under its own power on the grounds of the museum. Since 2004, she is no longer operational and will be, probably not even worked up by the Czech Railways, which operates the museum, as it is not their property and the National Technical Museum hardly means it is willing to apply. ( Except boiler must be renewed diverses More ) Rough estimates for the processing amount to 400,000 euros.
