ÄŒSD Class E 669.2

The ČSD Series E 669.2 (from 1988: 182 series ) is a six-axle electric freight locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD for the 3 kV DC system in the north and east of the former Czechoslovakia. It was created as an evolution of the previous series E 669.1.

History

After two series of six-axle freight locomotive E were 669.1 delivered, nor was further need for this six-axle locomotive for heavy freight service. Therefore, the mentioned E 669.2 were developed and from 1963 to 1965 delivered to the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD.

The locomotives had the same application as the previous series. It was acquired by two railroads, the ČD and the ZSSK and impressed from the outset by your enormous traction and quiet your track position heavy trains.

The most part, today their services were taken due to the decline in freight traffic from modern four-axle locomotives. A few locomotives are still operational. Two machines are operable museum locomotives; the 182 002 at the ČD and 182 133 in the ZSSK.

Technical Features

The locomotives are locomotives with box arranged on two tips cabs and intermediate centrally locked machine room. The case of the locomotives is welded with steel plates. The climb to the cab of a locomotive driver is available, contrary to the previous design of both sides.

The locomotive body corresponds to the little things (eg the shape of the air vents in the roof slopes otherwise) which the previous design. The bogies are contrary to the E 669.1 provided with a smaller wheelbase to have on routes with tight curves less wear. Otherwise, they correspond to the previous design.

The locomotive is also regulated by a resistance control, just happened here, the fine control over 42 speed steps. The traction drive motors are designed as Tatzlagerfahrmotoren and be connected in three exciting forms; First series (6 traction motors in series, U = 500 V), 2 serioparallel 1 ( 2 sets each with 3 traction motors in series, U = 1 kV) and 3 serioparallel 2 (3 set with 2 motors in series, U = 1.5 kV). The locomotives are equipped with a wheel slide and a safety control mechanism.
