ÄŒSD Class T 478.4

The ČSD Series T 478.4 (from 1988 series 754 ) is a diesel-electric locomotive of the Universal former Czechoslovak State Railways ( ČSD ). The striking exterior with the anti-glare cabs owe their nickname locomotives goggles or glasses snake ( Brejlovec ).

History

The locomotives are a further development of the predecessor type T 478.3, while they received more powerful engines and an electric Zugheizanlage. The first two prototypes were 1975 CKD in Prague. In the years 1978-1980 then 78 series locomotives were manufactured.

With the introduction of the computerized system of numbers in 1988, the locomotives were given the new number 754 with only 3 -digit order number.

The machines are in today's České Railways ( ČD ) and Železničná spoločnosť ( ZSSK ) still in use.
