Csesznek

Csesznek (German Zeßnegg; Kroat Česneg and Slovak: Česnek. . ) Is a village in the county, Hungary Veszprém. Famous is the village for its medieval castle.

The medieval castle of Csesznek was built in 1263 by the Baron Jakab Cseszneky, who was the sword-bearer of King Béla IV. He and his descendants have been named after the castle Cseszneky. Between 1326 and 1392 she was a royal castle, offered when King Sigismund, to change it for the Garai family instead of the Banat of Macsó. Died in 1482 from the male line of the Garais and King Matthias Corvinus donated the castle of Szapolyai family. 1527 took over Bálint Török Baron Castle. During the 16th century the families Csábi, Szelestey and Wathay owned by Csesznek were. 1561 defended Lőrincz Wathay successfully from the siege of the Ottomans.
