Ctenochaetus

Gold Rings bristle tooth doctor fish ( Ctenochaetus strigosus )

The bristle tooth doctor fish ( Ctenochaetus ) are a genus of the family Acanthuridae. They have like all surgeonfish at the base of the tail a fold spike in defense. The young fish are often colorful, while adult animals have a simple, single-color drawing.

Bristle tooth doctor fish have laterally flattened body with an elongated dorsal and anal fin. As with all Doctor fish 's mouth is terminal. Unlike their relatives they do not feed on leaf and string algae, but scrape with their bristle- like teeth the fine layer of algae from rocks.

The bristle tooth doctor fish are native to the tropical seas of the Indopazifiks.
