Ctulu

Ctulu is a company incorporated in late 2004 Extreme Metal band from the Lower Saxony Delmenhorst. The name comes from the Ctulu deity Cthulhu from the HP Lovecraft invented gods pantheon, which again is found in many of his stories. The symmetry of the two additional tape logos Hs were removed from the original name. Likewise, this measure is seen as protection against copyright conflicts.

History

Founded in late 2004 lead guitarist and vocalist Stefan Mathias ( which also functioned at this time as a drummer ) Ctulu in Delmenhorst, then still as a project. Appeared in 2005 in -house production of the first demo interest of time.

Following the arrival of bassist and drummer Chrille Jan in 2006, Stefan focused only on the vocals, his first concerts in Hamburg, Delmenhorst and Athens were played. Together, the Demo Free spirits was taken in-house.

2007 Chrille left the band and was replaced by Mario. The following year, on 2 May 2008, the first full-fledged album came free spirits over North Fire Records and Twilight Vertrieb. Between the recording and the release came as a rhythm guitarist Arne to Ctulu. The subsequent live activities include an appearance on the first Paganfest.

2009 Stefan left the band, followed by more concerts in Germany, but also in Denmark, Austria and the Netherlands with Mathias and Arne as a singer. In the fall of Rolf as a singer and Martin joined on drums the band.

2010 have been announced at the Ragnarök Festival in vineyards (Oberpfalz ) to a wider audience Ctulu. A little later, Mario left the band.

2011 at the Ragnarök Festival 's second album Sarkomand was presented, which was released on Godeater Records on April 29, 2011. The bass parts were played by the rhythm guitarist Arne. Two months before the festival came bassist Paulo to the band. In May 2011 it was announced that singer and bassist Rolf Paulo are still left in the same year the band. The vacant post, however, were occupied quickly. A bass player named Lasse and a singer named Lars were announced end of May 2011 as a replacement. The latter left the band, however, the end of September. Since September 2011, there Ctulu as a quartet.

2012 Ctulu played concerts in Celle, London, Athens and Limassol ( Cyprus). Furthermore, it was the release of their third studio album, Soul Mirror splinters under Nocturnal Empire in April 2013. Ctulu in October separated by drummer Martin.

Style

Music

Ctulus music is guitar -dominated, faster Extreme Metal, which is often compared with Swedish Black Metal. It also includes additional elements of different rock and metal styles. Ctulu themselves describe their music as Seastorming Extreme Metal.

Texts

The lyrics deal with nightmares, death and various other subjects which are mainly inspired by HP Lovecraft's stories.
