Cucamonga Valley AVA

Cucamonga Valley AVA ( recognized since 31 March 1995) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is located in the administrative area of San Bernardino County and Riverside County, about 70 km east of the city of Los Angeles. Viticulture has Cucamonga Valley back in 1838 tradition. Shortly before the Prohibition in 1920 they produced in the Cucamonga Valley grapes together more than the two currently known areas of Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. Prohibition and the urban sprawl of Los Angeles on one side and the Orange County on the other side sat the wine too strong. The Cucamonga Valley has a very warm climate and daytime temperatures in summer are frequently above 38 ° C, so here mostly varietals from southern Europe are used. The soil consists of sandy alluvium.
