Pediacus depressus

The beetle ( Cucujidae ) represent a family of beetles, which can be found worldwide.

Features

The beetles are 6 to 25 millimeters long and are bright red, yellow or even black in color. You have an abdomen, extend the sides mostly parallel. The head is slightly triangular, with straight, 11- membered sensors and large mandibles. The pronotum is narrower than the head.

Way of life

Both the beetles and the larvae live under the bark of trees.

System

The Cucujidae family included earlier the subfamilies Laemophloeinae, Silvanainae and Passandrinae, these represent but now own families while Europe contributed six species occur in two genera:
