Cúil Aodha

Cúil Aodha [ ˌ k u ː l ʲ ˠ e ː ] (Anglicized Coolea ) is a village and townland in the valley of the river to Sulan ( Sullane River Anglicized ) in west County Cork, Ireland. It is in the Gaeltacht of Múscraí Thiar (Anglicized West Muskerry ). The vernacular is as in neighboring Baile Bhuirne the Munster dialect of Irish. Therefore has official status only, the Irish name Cúil Aodha.

The Irish composer Seán Ó Riada lived from 1964 until his death in Cúil Aodha. He founded the men's choir Cór Chuil Aodha, which is now managed by his son Peadar Ó Riada.

In and around Cúil Aodha the Coolea cheese is made to Gouda - type.
