Cuisenaire rods

Cuisenaire rods are an educational resource. They are named after the Belgian school inspector Georges Cuisenaire ( 1891-1975 ). This took colored rods to illustrate the detection of the number of children ( the symbol ) as well as computational operations. Although the length depends on the numerical value, however, there are no chopsticks on the centimeter markings. It is important for the child only, for example, the 7 -inch rod is longer than the 4-cm rods and that in turn greater than the 3 -inch sticks. The child learns in addition also that the 3 - and 4-cm rods together give the length of the 7 -inch rod. In a playful way, so the addition to be learned.

On the chopsticks are the number of points, which embodies the chopsticks. The points are arranged differently. Thus, the child should be given the opportunity to abstract. Not only five points, which are arranged like on a dice represent this number, but all other combinations. However, all 5 Series rods in common is the color used.
