Cuju

Cuju (also Ts'u Chü or Ts'u Kü ;蹴鞠Chinese, Pinyin Cuju, W.-G. ts'u - chu ) was an asian ball game, which is considered the forerunner of football.

History

Cuju was played later than the third century before our era. Originally filled with feathers and hair leather ball had to be transported by only a 30-40 cm wide opening into a narrow network, which was attached to two long bamboo poles.
