Culet

A culet (also rib ) is the tiny facet, with which a ground for brilliant gemstone ends at the lower end. This prevents that splits the stone at this fragile site. The eight facets of the lower part can also converge to a point. A gemological report on a diamond then includes " culet not present" or " no culet ." A tip increases the value of diamonds, a large culet decreases it.
