Culvert

A passage or Dole is a building in the earth body of a highway ( in railway embankments mostly) that allows the passage of water.

Culverts, so that smaller streams can happen the dam, but also so that when it rains accumulated waste water accumulation occurs on a dam side, and possibly undermined the right of way. By definition, passages have a clear width of less than 2 meters and are thus distinguished from overpasses and bridges.

According to the guidelines for the construction of roads - Part: Drainage (RAS - Ew) are passages have the following minimum dimensions:

A culvert is a subspecies of passing with a level intersection between water flow and transport route is possible. A passage on the other hand idle when flow well from above is no more water.

A Ökodurchlass (or Ökostollen ) is a passage of a flood retention basin, which is ecologically consistent for fish and small animals. They are built for several years to make the waters consistently and to fulfill the requirements of the Water Framework Directive, which calls for a "good status" of water bodies. It can be a closed tunnel or an upwardly open structure. In normal drains the flume remains open. Only at high tide, the passage is closed.

The Ökodurchlass to create reasonably natural conditions. He should have a large cross section and have sufficient brightness. The flow rate is limited, a minimum water depth is maintained, the Sohlprofil is rough, and there is a berm (or even two) for running animals.
