Cunardo

Cunardo is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2925 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Varese, in the Lombardy region. The community is located approximately 13.5 kilometers north-northwest of Varese on Margorabbia, which opens into the Olona.

History

In the Lombard period was built around 900 AD on Mount Castelvecchio a settlement. Formerly belonged to the fief Cunardo Valtravaglia, which finally fell in 1438 to the Duke of Milan Filippo Maria Visconti. 1583 Family Marliani became ruler over the area.
