Cuon, Maine-et-Loire

Cuon is a commune with 608 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Maine -et -Loire in the Pays de la Loire.

Geography

Cuon is in the countryside Baugeois. In the southwest of the district border also forms the border with the district of Angers, in the south and southeast to the Canton Longué. In the east, the town of Le Guédéniau borders in the north and in the west Bocé Chartrené. Cuon is the southernmost town in the canton of Baugé.

History

Cave inhabitants of the area was built around 1070 - 1080 on a high altitude place of boulders a building that should serve primarily as a refuge from predators. It was la Grange ( engl. the barn) called and gradually developed into a residential place, which was a Romanesque church in the 12th century.

Traffic

Cuon is located on the department road D 938 Baugé - Longué - Jumelles. On this road also located twelve kilometers south of the village, a driveway to the A 85

Culture and sights

The manor of Vaux those behind the church. Opposite the church is the former horse-changing station.
