Cupcake

A cupcake ( British fairy cake also ) is a small cake that is baked in a cup-like baking dish and covered with a cast or a cream hood. Cupcakes have similarity with muffins. 1828 emerged the concept for the first time in the cookbook of the US-American Eliza Leslie.

In the UK we also call him fairy cake, but even there the term cupcake is now increasingly used, as well as in Australia. The term cupcake is already penetrated so far in the United States in the vocabulary that he has also become a term of endearment.

In the United States and in the UK you will find a variety of cupcakes oriented cafes. Even in larger German cities there are already specialized cupcake cafes.

Preparation

The name comes from the fact that the dough originally in a cup (English: cup ) was baked, has nothing to do with the cup cake, in which spans the ingredients with a cup. Today cupcakes are instead usually baked in a cup in lined with paper muffin tins. Then the cupcake comes with a cream hood (English: frosting ) equipped and decorated with fruit, sugar beads or flowers, where the imagination knows no limits. When the cream is a wide-ranging selection that ranges from cream cheese to a wide variety of butter cream variants. The cream hood can be placed with a spatula, a spoon or a pastry bag onto the cupcakes.

In the meantime, have joined to the sweet and savory cupcakes after it was first mixed forms such as chili - chocolate cupcakes or Maple Bacon Cupcakes. As with the sweet cupcakes, there are numerous possibilities here. Thus, they can be prepared vegetarian or vegan as well with fish or meat.
