Cupola (geometry)

Under a dome refers to a body which is arranged in parallel in two regular polygons is made which are connected by rectangles, and triangles in the geometry. It has the lower mold twice as many corners and edges as the figure overhead. All domes are Prismatoide. The simplest dome is a wedge, this is at the upper mold is only one line.

The triangle, quadrilateral and Fünfeckskuppeln with regular faces are the Johnson - body J3, J4 and J5. Coupling with a " roof " of six or more corners are only to be still using irregular side surfaces and, therefore, no Johnson body.

Some domes are part of other bodies. If, for example, a cuboctahedron cuts so as to give as a cutting surface, a regular hexagon, the two halves of cut Kubokaeders are two identical triangular domes (J3 ).
