Curdin Perl

Curdin Perl ( * November 15, 1984 in Samedan, Graubünden Canton ) is a Swiss cross-country skier.

Life and career

His first international competition contested Perl 2001 at the Continental Cup in the domestic Campra. There, however, he could be placed only in the back of the pack. In the following years he improved his performance continuously and was nominated as 2003 for the Junior World Championships in Sollefteå. About 30 km Freestyle ( mass start ), he took a good twelfth place and 10-kilometer classic the 23th Place. A year later he was able to improve these results in Stryn Norway and won the 30 km classic ( mass start ) the silver medal, finishing 10-kilometer freestyle ninth place. The Swiss team he finished eighth. Also in the Continental Cup, he increased his performances and was with several top ten results fight for second place in the overall standings. In March 2005 he launched the first time in the Cross Country World Cup. In Falun, he was the 30 km free style 49 of 71 starters. This result he was able to improve with 35th place a year later. The breakthrough at senior level Perl succeeded in the 2006/07 season when he was able to prove completely unexpected tenth place at his third World Cup competition in the domestic Davos. This result earned him a nomination for the 2007 Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo. He was 29 over 15 km freestyle and 30th in the pursuit competition. In the subsequent U23 World Championships in Tarvisio, he finished in the victory of his compatriot Dario Cologna about 15 km freestyle fifth place. In pursuit competition he ersprintete behind Cologna the silver medal. Since the 2007/ 08 season Perl is a permanent member of the Swiss World Cup team. In his first season he was regularly Walk World Cup points in distance competitions. Also in the 2008/ 09 season continued Perl as the entire young Swiss team its upward trend.

At the Tour de Ski 2010/2011 Curdin Perl reached behind the Swiss Dario Cologna, the Petter Northug of Norway and the Czech Lukas Bauer fourth place, which he established himself in the midst of a world leader.

After a difficult 2011/12 season Perl finished end of November 2012 in the season opener in Sweden 11 Gällivare a final rank over 15 kilometers in the free technique.
