Curlu

Curlu is a commune of 140 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Combles and since January 1, 2013 part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot ( previously Communauté de communes du canton de Combles ).

Geography

The municipality is situated on the northern shore of a swampy valley with ponds here ( étangs ) forming Somme approximately twelve km west- north-west of Peronne and south of the department of road D938 Peronne after Albert.

History

Curlu suffered in the Battle of the Somme (1916 ) in World War serious damage. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
