Origin and History

When Curly Coated Retriever (English frizzy curly retriever), also often referred to briefly as Curly, is a rare hunting breed that is now primarily kept as a pet. He is the oldest breed of the family retriever. Worldwide, there are about 4,000 Curly Coated Retriever, most of them in northern Europe, with the race now in the rest of Europe enjoys a certain popularity.

The breed originated in the 19th century by the intersection of a Newfoundland dog with an Irish Water Spaniel, and later various poodles. In his home country England it was first shown in 1860 at an exhibition in Birmingham; probably existed already in 1803.

Description

Males are up to 69 cm tall, females up to 63 cm. Their appearance is characterized by strong and wiry physique with a lively transition. The coat is black or brown with solid, tight curls. The skull is round with a square muzzle; the big wide ears are black or dark brown and covered with short curls. The tail is short and straight with a pointed end and curly hair.
