Curry puff

Karipap ( English: curry puff, Malay: Karipap, Epok epok; Chinese咖喱 角; Thai: กะหรี่ปั๊บ, RTGS: karipap, IPA: Kari: PAP ) is a Malayan, Singaporean and Thai snack. It is a little cake, which consists mainly of curry, chicken and potatoes, and is in a deep-fried or baked pastry shell. The curry is quite thick, so that it is protected from the moisture out of snacks. Some variations of the South Asian samosa are very similar to the Karipap.

Origins

Karipap were introduced in 1511 by the Portuguese, who called it empanada. The original, Malay word " Epok Epok " is a corruption of empanada.
