Curtatone

Curtatone is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 14,649 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Mantua in Lombardy. Since 2002, the community is entitled città (city). The administrative center of the municipality is located in the district Montanara. Curtatone is located about 6 kilometers west of Mantua below the Parco del Mincio and the course of the River Mincio.

History

In the first Italian War of Independence, a battle between the Habsburg Empire and the combined forces of the Kingdom of Sardinia, the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies was held on 29 May 1848 Curtatone and Montanara.

Traffic

Through the community Strada Statale 10 Padana Inferiore the Turin leads to Monselice. Although the railway line Cremona - Mantua through the community, the nearest train station is, however, in Castellucchio.
