Curtici

Curtici (Hungarian Kürtös, German Kurti Czech ) is a small town in Arad County in western Romania.

Geographical location

Curtici is located in the west of Arad County, on the border with Hungary, 17 kilometers from the county capital Arad.

Neighboring municipalities are in the north, the Hungarian village MACSA, in the east Andrei Şaguna, in the south the villages Sanpaul and Sofronea and to the west the town Dorobanţi.

History

Curtici was first documented in 1519. In the interwar period it received by the Romanian authorities the name " Decebal ". On February 16, 1968 Curtici was declared a city.

Economy

Curtici has a border to Hungary special significance as customs and border crossing station on the railway, as it is on the route Budapest -Bucharest. In Curtici is the most important railway border crossing between Hungary and Romania.

Through the Government Decision No. 449 of 8 June 1999 an area of ​​90 hectares between Curtici, Arad and the border with Hungary was declared a free economic zone. The Free Zone Curtici - Arad (Romanian Zona Liberă Curtici - Arad, short SLCA ) has the purpose to attract through various incentives, especially in the area of ​​taxation of national and international investors.
