Curtis McElhinney
Curtis McElhinney (born 23 May 1983; London, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who stands in February 2012 in the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League contract.
Career
Curtis McElhinney started his career in the team of the Colorado College in 2001., Where he played until 2005 a total of four years in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, a league in the play mode of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The Canadian was selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 when a total of 176 players from the Calgary Flames.
In summer 2005, McElhinney was appointed to the cadre of Calgary's farm team, the Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights of the American Hockey League after he signed his first professional contract in advance. For the Knights, he played a total of two years until disbanded the team. In summer 2007, McElhinney got a contract with the new farm team of the Flames, the Quad City Flames, for whom he played 41 games in the AHL. On 22 October 2007, the Canadians made his debut in the National Hockey League as a replacement of Miikka Kiprusoff for the Flames in a game against the San Jose Sharks. In the 2007 /08 season McElhinney completed a total of five games before Curtis Joseph was obliged to replace him. After his departure in the summer of 2008 McElhinney was again the number 2 in the hierarchy Calgary goalie. In March 2010 he was released in a swap deal with the Anaheim Ducks, in return Vesa Toskala went to the Calgary Flames.
After McElhinney was promoted temporarily after the injury-related loss of Jonas Hiller to the goalkeeper in Anaheim, he fell after good performances last by inconstant inserts on and had three defeats in a row, partly responsible for the Californians. On 24 February 2011 the management of the Ducks decided the goalkeeper in a barter transaction to the Tampa Bay Lightning leave and received in return Dan Ellis. Shortly before the trade deadline, he was informed of the Bolts on the Waiverliste, chose him from the Ottawa Senators.
On July 4, 2011 McElhinney signed a Zweiwegvertrag for a year at the Phoenix Coyotes, which it jointly with a second-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 and a fifth- round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2013 in a transfer business in the February 22, 2012 exchange charges for Antoine Vermette to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
