Curtis Murphy

Curtis Murphy ( born December 3, 1975 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player on the position of the defender, who has a contract with EHC Linz in the Austrian Hockey League since June 2011.

Career

Murphy began his career in the 1993/94 season at the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. For the 1994/95 season the defender moved to the University of North Dakota in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, one of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division. With the team he won the 1997 national college championship.

After four years, Murphy moved ungedraftet in the professional sector to the Orlando Solar Bears in the International Hockey League. In the 2000 /01 season he won the Turner Cup with the Bears last team since the league was disbanded after the end of this season and merged with the American Hockey League. Simultaneously, the Solar Bears were dissolved. From 2001bis 2003 he played in the farm team of the Minnesota Wild, the Houston Aeros. During this time, Curtis Murphy also completed an NHL game and won the Calder Cup with the Aeros. For the season 2003/ 04, the Canadian was issued in exchange for Chris Bala of the Minnesota Wild at the Nashville Predators, which he transferred within the AHL to the Milwaukee Admirals. With the Admirals, he won the Calder Cup again and received the Eddie Shore Award as the best defender of the league for the second time in a row.

Since his contract after only one year, Murphy moved in the summer of 2004 in the Russian Super League to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. But even with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl he stayed only one season. In summer 2005, Murphy returned to the Houston Aeros. After two years, Murphy sat his career in the Swiss National League A for the SCL Tigers continued. End of June 2011 was the Canadians a contract with the EHC Linz of the Austrian Hockey League.
