Curtis Sanford

Curtis Sanford ( born October 5, 1979 in Owen Sound, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since 2012 to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

The 1.78 m wide goalie began his professional career with the Owen Sound Platers in the Canadian Junior Football League OHL and was then drafted by any NHL team, so he launched his career at the Missouri River Otters in the United Hockey League.

In October 2000, the Canadian was finally obliged as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues, who initially put him at various farm teams in the Minor Leagues American Hockey League and East Coast Hockey League. His first appearances in the National Hockey League he graduated in the 2002/03 season. Despite a good Gegentorschnitts of 1.96 goals per game Sandford did not make it to be able to enforce permanently in the squad of the franchise from Missouri. First, therefore, he returned for two years on the Worcester IceCats back to the AHL, and then get a new chance for the Blues in 2005. This time he could make better use of injuries cost him, however, in the period following his place between the posts.

On July 3, 2007 Sanford signed a one-year contract with the Premier League rivals Vancouver Canucks, of which he was employed until the summer of 2009 as a replacement of Roberto Luongo. On 20 July 2009 the Canadians signed a one-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens valid for the NHL and AHL. In July 2010, his contract was renewed for another season. Also in the 2010/11 season played Sanford farm team for the Hamilton Bulldogs and had thanks to a balance of five shutouts and a catch quota of around 93 percent decisive role in the successful performance of the Bulldogs, as the best team in the North Division of the way into the playoffs managed. Subsequently, he was elected to the Second All-Star team in the league.

July 1, 2011 Sanford signed a two-way contract for one year at the Columbus Blue Jackets, for which he completed a total of 36 games in the NHL. In April 2012, Sanford moved the first time to Europe, when he signed a contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey League.
