Curtis Stigers
Curtis Stigers ( born October 18, 1965 in Boise, Idaho) is an American singer and saxophonist.
Life and work
His greatest success Stigers in the early 1990s with the pop ballad I Wonder Why, an international top ten hit (1991 U.S. No. 9, UK # 5, D 8th place), and You're All That Matters to Me (1992, UK number 6 ). Both titles come from his debut LP Curtis Stigers (1991 ), which earned him multiple platinum awards around the world. Overall, the album sold over a half million copies worldwide. He recorded another big success the following year with his interpretation of the song Peace, Love and Understanding by Nick Lowe on the soundtrack of the film The Bodyguard. With the album Time What he could not build on these successes (1995). In an interview with the New Music newspaper he reported the end of 2009 about his experiences as a pop musician and the conflicts with the record company Arista: " The Musical which did not matter. From the early 2000s he executed a change of style to jazz, from which he had originally come also. It was followed by several albums with jazz standards. In 2010 he was awarded the International jazz singer of the year with the first ever ECHO Jazz Award.
In 2011 he published together with the band The Forest Rangers ' the blues-rock piece This Life, was known as the theme song for the TV series Sons of Anarchy. For this series, having him covered also the gospel / blues piece John the Revelator, which can be heard at the end of the last episode of the first season. Stigers album Let 's Go Out Tonight preferably contained cover versions of songs by other artists - for example, by Richard Thompson, Neil Finn and Jeff Tweedy. Included with the album is a cover version of among others Bob Dylan piece Things Have Changed - a recording of a singer, Stigers claims to be very underestimated.
