Cutin

Cutin ( Akkruste ) is a polyester -like substance that is found in combination with cellulose, pectin and waxes in the cuticle of plant cells and makes them almost impervious to water. Cutin can be cleaved from fungi and pollen by cutinase. Chemically, it is a heteropolymer with ester bonds between the monomers. The monomers rely on either C16 or C18 hydroxy fatty acid scaffolds.

Increased secretion by cutin cell wall is called cutinisiert.
