Cuttack ( Oriya: କଟକ Kataka [ kɔʈɔkɔ ] ) is one of the oldest and second largest city in the Indian state of Odisha. By 1950, it was the capital of Orissa ( Odisha ). It has about 600,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ).

Cuttack is located on the river Mahanadi. Its attractions include the used by Hindus and Muslims Qadam -i - Rasul shrine from the 18th century. It is famous for its silversmith ( tarakasi ). The company United Textiles Inc. has their headquarters there, it is considered the largest employer in the city.
